Soup Tease

Here's the awesome soup my partner sent to me.
Lupe Meter is a polymer clay artist. She made me three pieces that I would consider focal pieces. The flower and butterfly were part of the soup, and the bird pendant was an additional gift. Lots of blues in this mix. I don't generally do much blue, so I'm already working out of my comfort zone. This is a good thing. Isn't that the point of the hop? I've actually never worked with poly clay beads before either. I love fiber , and Lupe included quite a selection of options to work with. Lots of pretty shiny silver, and I love the lacy brass stampings. Some purple Moroccan lantern beads, dyed turquoise, crystals, and lots of coordinating polymer pieces. I really had a lot of fun working with these and can't wait to show off what I made.

This is the soup mix that I sent to my partner Lupe. I went for an organic industrial look. The marks left by mankind, softened by nature. I did all the copper work myself. A form folded copper blossom, with a silk cocoon center surrounded by seed beads. The two form folded leaves as well as the blossom are decorated with vintage sheet music and sealed in lacquer. The lacquer took on an interesting blue patina from the copper that blends perfectly with the iridescent blue green Baroque pearl. The hand made chain, hammered copper rings and hammered copper swirl toggle were all treated to a rich iridescent patina. An Agate butterfly, stabilized Turquoise pumpkin beads, copper cage lanterns, Carnelian, iridescent green gold pearls, and vintage mother of pearl buttons round out the mix. Some vintage Sari silk shreds, leather cording, and wool locks included for texture.  Can't wait to see what Lupe did with it.
And here is my tease......are you ready?

Don't forget to check back Saturday to see the rest. There is a lot left to reveal. Until then, Happy Beading!
