We have no choice in the name we are given at birth. It may tell people where you come from, but it really doesn't represent you at all. You're parents probably chose it before your birth. No chance that your personality or anything about you, except perhaps gender, is represented at all. So we create nicknames. As we grow, and start to develop a personality and character, then comes the cute little names that go along with it, like "bug" (short for snuggle bug, which my niece is known as) and my little brother, a Thanksgiving baby, became "turkey". I think a nickname tells you far more about someone..............
I have always had a love of fairies. A love for anything magical really. The spelling however, of my nickname "Pyxee" has it's origins in a personalized license plate. This was the only spelling available in California at the time. My license plate holder reads...
"EAT MY
(PYXEE)
DUST"
I wait tables for a living. My hairstyle of choice is pinned up in a bun with chopsticks. I have many regular customers whom actually bring me chopsticks as gifts. I have close to 40 pairs now, in all different styles and colors. Something to fit every mood. At the restaurant I'm actually known as chopsticks.
The two names then merged to become one, hence PyxeeStyx. It doesn't hurt that all of my creations are "rainbow colored sugar" much like those candy straws of the same name received on Halloween.
I love bight bold beautiful colors. Reds and oranges, and greens are my favorite. I picked the sunniest happiest background I could find for my blog. A garden palette where any fairy would be at home.
I've long heard the call of far off and exotic places. I love all things majestical. Wether that be the circus or the Eiffel Tower. The pomp and circumstance of the ringmaster announcing death defying feats from center ring. The red velvet curtain that draws back to reveal fantastical sets and bejeweled dancers at the ballet. Hand feeding the pigeons in Piazzo San Marco, Venice. A little plaza in Paris with dozens of artist all painting their own view of the world. The hustle and bustle of Times Square. Elephants on Parade and Gypsy Caravans alike, all appeal to my sense of wonder. I even collect vintage luggage, because it carries with it the energy of adventure. I can't help but imagine where it's been on it's journey.
