Bead Soup for Supper

I'm signed up for Lori Anderson's "Bead Soup Blog Party", and I am soooo excited! This is the whole reason I started my blog in the first place, because I wanted to participate in all these interactive artist challenges. Well, maybe not the whole reason. I'd been toying with the idea of blogging for a while, but the Bead Soup Blog Party was definitely the thing that pushed me to actually start one.
I just got my partner assignment and I'm getting to know a little bit about her. Her Name is Guadalupe Meter and she lives in Glendale, Arizona. She is a polymer clay artist and quite talented from what I've seen so far. She sent me this amazing slide show of her work that just blew me away. Admittedly, I was feeling a little inferior after watching it and felt compelled to "plump" my own slide show.

This was the first piece that got my

I love all the separate little hingy parts. It has such awesome motion and fluidity to it.

I think that polymer clay is a medium that has been hugely misunderstood by me. I honesty think of these smiley face canes when I think of polymer clay. Lupe has opened my eyes to a whole new medium. I, again and again, while watching her slideshow, found myself saying "You can do that with polymer clay?"

Just look at the texture on this starfish. Phenomenal!

I love the mix of media used in the chain.

These huge funky chunky beads are just awesome.

I love the way the silhouettes whisper across this bracelet like a dream in the night. It's so subtle in design, yet so ornately detailed.

And the pods....Oh how I LOVE pods!

I am really excited to see what she sends me to work with. I sure hope I can do it justice.
